Convincing evidence from an old Red and Blue newspaper of the 1950s leads us to
believe that the Huskie's original name was "Togar"
The Huskie was Sharon (Callahan) Cox's dog, or I should say their family dog.
His name was "Togar" and a group of kids came out to Sharon's house on the
Mt. Rose Highway and took pictures of him and also took him in to town to get pictures
for the yearbook.
One of his pictures is on page 131 of the 1959 Re-Wa-Ne sitting on the bench with a
Block R jacket and helmet at Foster Field. Sharon's Dad allowed the school to use him
for the yearbook that year. Sharon is also now raising Siberian Huskies and
have a male dog that is also called "Togar."
